Our Team

Advisors Who Measure Success in Capital Preserved

A small, senior team with backgrounds in private banking, law, and actuarial science — each member accountable to the client, not to a product shelf.

Small by Design, Senior by Necessity

The Workshop has never sought to grow headcount for its own sake. We keep the team deliberately small so that every client relationship is held by a named, senior advisor — not passed to a junior. Currently six advisors, each with a minimum of twelve years of experience in financial services, insurance structuring, or fiduciary law. Our collective background spans private banking in Zurich, actuarial work in Bucharest, and EU insurance regulation in Luxembourg. We recruit slowly and we keep clients for the long term: the average client tenure at The Workshop is nine years.

Core Team Profiles

Six advisors, each with a distinct specialisation — working as one team around each client.

Radu Ionescu — Lead Advisor

Radu spent fourteen years at a Zurich private bank before returning to Romania in 2009. He leads client strategy engagements and holds CISI and CFA designations. His focus is multi-jurisdictional asset allocation and EU insurance wrapper selection.

Elena Popa — Fiduciary Counsel

Elena trained as a barrister in Bucharest and later specialised in EU succession law at a Luxembourg firm. She drafts all fiduciary mandates, family governance charters, and cross-border beneficiary structures, and liaises directly with Romanian notarial offices.

Bogdan Marin — Risk Analyst

Bogdan's background is actuarial — ten years in life insurance pricing at a Bucharest re-insurer before joining The Workshop in 2016. He produces every Preservation Audit and maintains the annual risk-register review cycle for all active clients.

Simona Dumitrescu — Client Relations

Simona manages onboarding, annual review scheduling, and day-to-day client communications. She holds a degree in financial services and previously worked in private client administration at a regional Romanian bank for eight years.

“What distinguishes The Workshop from every other advisory I have used is continuity. I have spoken to the same advisor — Radu — for six consecutive years. He knows my family situation, my risk tolerance, and my long-term intentions without me repeating myself at every meeting. In a sector built on churn, that kind of loyalty to the client relationship is genuinely rare.”

Fee Structure and Independence

Every Workshop advisor is salaried. We accept no commissions from product providers, custodians, or fund managers. Our fees are charged as a flat annual retainer, calculated on the complexity of the client's structure rather than on asset volume — which means our advice is never skewed toward increasing your holdings with any particular provider. We disclose our full fee schedule at the first meeting, and it is written into your engagement letter. There are no hidden trailer fees, no referral income, and no soft-dollar arrangements. This independence is the structural foundation of everything else we do.
